AEO glossary
The short answer
Answer engine optimization concerns how a page answers a specific question clearly and supports that answer with evidence. This topic connects answer-first writing with the limits of search presentation. Use it to distinguish a useful customer explanation from a promise that Google will display a particular result feature.

Understanding AEO in a business context
AEO is an industry term for making answers accessible to systems that respond to questions. A useful starting point is the visible answer itself. Structured data describes content for supported uses; it does not turn an inaccurate answer into a reliable one or create an entitlement to a search feature.
Using these definitions in your workflow
Identify the question your customer actually asks and put a complete answer beside it. Check whether a proposed structured-data type still has a supported Google feature. Documented search guidance changes, so old screenshots and plugin claims need to be checked against current documentation before implementation.
A plumber’s question about emergency availability should have a clear answer that reflects the real service. A markup plugin cannot supply that fact. For generated-answer claims, label proposed optimizations experimental unless the platform documents the behavior, and avoid making visibility promises from the presence of a schema type.
Checking the evidence behind a report
Keep the question visible beside its answer, and use a factual answer that your service team can support. If a plugin proposes FAQPage markup, distinguish the Schema.org vocabulary from Google’s retired FAQ search appearance. The customer still benefits from an honest answer about scheduling or warranty coverage even when no special result exists.
Check the visible answer after a policy update rather than testing only whether a JSON parser accepts the script. A markup validation pass cannot tell you whether the office team actually follows the promised process.

- FAQ schema
FAQ schema is structured data describing visible questions and answers with the Schema.org FAQPage type. Google has retired FAQ rich results, so the vocabulary and Google search feature should not be treated as the same thing.
